Psalm 110 A psalm of David. This short psalm, one of the most quoted in the N.T., pictures Messiah as King(vv.1-3), as Priest (v.4), and as victorious Warrior (vv.5-7). Verses 1-2 refers to the present position of Christ in sharing the Father’s kingly authority; verse 2, to His rule on earth during the millennial kingdom. Verse 3 the meaning is this: during the Millennium God’s people will voluntarily rally to the Messiah, who will lead them with constantly renewed vigor. In holy majesty. Verse 4 Like Melchizedek, Christ combines the offices of priest and king (Gen.14:18 and Zech6:12-13). Verses 5-6 This will be fulfilled in the campaign of Armageddon, climaxing in the second coming of Christ.( Rev.19:15).

Psalm 110:1-7 A psalm of David.

The Lord says to my Lord: “ Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.” The Lord will extend your mighty scepter from Zion; you will rule in the midst of your enemies. Your troops will be willing on your day of battle. Arrayed in holy majesty, from the womb of the dawn you will receive the dew of your youth. (vv.1-3).

The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind: “ You are a priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek. The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth. He will drink from a brook beside the way; therefore he will  lift up his head. (vv.4-7).

Psalm 111 in this hymn the psalmist exhorts others and resolves himself to praise the Lord(v.1) because of His mighty works, which manifest His power, righteousness, truth, and justice(vv.2-9) and which lead men to fear and praise Him(v.10). This acrostic consists of twenty-two lines beginning in succession with the twenty –two lines beginning in succession with the twenty –two letters of the Hebrew alphabet.

Psalm111:1-10

Praise the Lord. I will extol the Lord with all my heart in the council of the upright and in the assembly. Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them. Glorious and majestic are his deeds, and his righteousness endures forever. (vv.1-3).

He has caused his wonders and compassionate. He provides food for those who fear him; he remembers his covenant forever. He has shown his people the power of his works, giving them the lands of other nations. (vv.4-6).

The works of his hands are faithful and just; all his precepts are trustworthy. They are steadfast forever and ever, done in faithfulness and uprightness. He provided redemption for his people; he ordained his covenant forever- Holy and awesome is his name.(vv.7-9).

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all who follow his precepts have good understanding to him belongs to eternal praise. (v.10).
